MRCS Part B: The Study Plan
How each topic works
You have full access to the whole Part B course. Every topic is the viva conversation itself.
What the exam actually is
Part B is an OSCE, not a written paper. You walk a circuit and stop at each station in turn.
17Examined stations~10Minutes per station
A bell ends each station and you move on. Two preparation stations and one rest station sit in the circuit too, so you pass through 20 in all.
Every examined station falls under one of two domains, and you must pass both. Applied Knowledge covers anatomy, surgical pathology and applied surgical science and critical care. Applied Skills covers communication, history taking and clinical and procedural skills.

One tip from me
Practise with a colleague wherever you can. You cannot mark your own fluency, and the examiner is marking exactly that.
